I come from a logging family that used to log in the redwoods of coastal California. I knew how hard this job was. I had also seen high lead logging before too but many people would not understand when I would talk about it. I would just like to thank you all for my house and TP. Lord knows I love them both. Keep up the good work.
PS my grandfather (Shine Sherburn) was a big man in the redwoods back in his day. Before handheld chain saws.

I live in Oregon and go past mills almost every day. Until I started watching AxMen I really didn't understand about logging and its dangers. As far as I knew it was just an job in the woods that men did. Oh my, I sure didn't have a clue. Now I watch the show, and encourage others to do so also, every week to learn more about logging. Thanks for doing the show. P.S. My father worked in a mill as did my grandfather.

Great show. Must also be great public relations as well. Owning a small logging company myself, and still learning the trade, its nice to see how someone else does things to get the job done. Not having come from a logging background there are no teachers or mentors for me to work with. All logging in our area is cutthroat, with no one willing to explain how, when, or why -(fear of competition). Trial and error is what I have to work with. Your company and its presence on AXMEN has helped and encouraged me. One question I do have is about the saws you use, What size powerheads, what size bars, and what pitch and chain? Again thank you!!

Great show. I'm from Florida and visit Oregon yearly. It is the most beautiful land in the country as far as I'm concerned. What's more important to me about the show is how it showed what the people of Oregon are like. Very down to earth, hard working, laid back and just plain cool. Although the senery is awsome the people I've met and made friends with in Oregon are the biggest reason I keep returning.

AxMen has quickly become one of my all time favorite shows. I had no idea what the logging industry was all about. It's great how passionate the men of Gustafson Logging are about their jobs. It's great to see that there's still hard working men in this world. Plus, I have to say, with all due respect to a very lucky Mrs. Holthusen, that Darrell is the sexiest man I've ever seen in a hard hat... and I've been in the construction industry for 12 years, so I've seen A LOT of men in hardhats. Not only adorable, he's hard working and dedicated to the company and his family. The episode where he cut his way through the fallen trees so his wife and kids could get out of their neighborhood was the best! I hope the show gets picked up for many seasons.

I wanted to say Thank You, for the dedication to this industry that sent me to collage into a very successful medical management profession, I am about to retire from. The safety concerns of logging have always been first in my mind and watching your crews work reinforce that priority. I hope that you and Gustafson logging are able to survive these hard times and that each of your crew make it home safely from every job. The show should help educate the general public on the need for logging and the real lives of loggers and their contributions to our society. I hope that the history channel follows up on this segment of logging and features the reforestation of logged areas. The reality of a sustainable forest industry needs to be recognized and supported. Best wishes in your future endeavors and thanks for all you do. Chuck

Also erosion is affecting my mountain becuase every property besides mine has been logged out. I have been basically forced by your rival/fellow logging company to sell my 200 acres of the last remaining timber on my once plentiful majestic mountain for less than I bought it for becuase the mountain is no longer safe for my children and family. I grew up and now live in East Texas. My family have been in logging and sawmilling for five generations. Since he retired (as comptroller for a tire company) my brother custom cuts with a circular saw mill that once belonged to my father. I spent 25 years in Washington State where I was married to a logger North of Spokane. So I do love seeing stories like this!!

When disaster struck, you Ax Men didn't whine to the government and demand handouts.
You put your backs and your minds to work and figured out how to get the job done.
You helped your families, helped your neighbors and helped your companies.
Your self-reliance, determination and creativity is should be admired by all.
This show should be required viewing in every school (especially in New Orleans).
Really enjoyed to show and was suprised to see Gustafson
Logging. Wish you all the best and hope you all stay safe.
Man that looks like some hard and dangerous work.
